Atlanta yards, drawn before they're dug.

We plan the whole outdoor space on paper first: where the water goes, where you walk, what grows where and how it looks after dark. Then the build follows the plan instead of guesswork.

A landscape design firm in downtown Atlanta.

Planning comes first here, and that's reflected in the name.

Atlanta Landscape Design & Architect Co works on outdoor space around Atlanta: front yards that need a better approach to the door, backyards that hold water after every storm, and plain lawns that could be somewhere you actually spend time.

The work starts with how your site behaves, its slope, sun and soil, and builds up from there. A good plan settles the expensive questions before anyone breaks ground, so you're not paying to move a patio or replant a bed that never had a chance.

The best way to start is a phone call. Tell us about the property and what isn't working, and we'll talk through which layers of the design it touches.

A landscape is built from the ground up.

Every design we draw is organized as four layers, stacked in the order they go into the ground. Pick a layer to read what it covers.

  1. 1Grade & drainagegoes in first
  2. 2Hardscapepaths, walls, patios
  3. 3Plantingbeds, trees, lawn
  4. 4Lighting & finishgoes in last

Why this order matters. Each layer sits on the one below it. Pavers laid on ground that drains badly will heave. Shrubs planted before the wall goes in get trampled. Lighting wired before the beds are set gets dug up.

The colors are the materials: soil, stone, leaf and lamplight. The thicker the band, the more of the layers above it depend on getting it right.

Tell us what your yard is doing wrong.

One call is enough to know which layers your project starts with.
